David Raymond Poirier

David Raymond Poirier passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 12, 2023. David was the devoted husband of 41 years to Julie (Waguespack) Poirier. He was a loving and dedicated father to Jacquelyn Poirier Greene, Jonathan Poirier (Nicole), Daniel Poirier, Matthew Poirier (Gabriella), Joseph Poirier, and Sarah Poirier Borowski (Tad). He was the adored Papa to Sophie, Jude, Claire, James, Ada, Lorien, Evie, and Xavier.

The son of Marie (Bilodeau) and the late Edward Poirier, David was born in 1955 and raised in Avon. He was the beloved oldest brother of Alan Poirier (Cheryl) and Phil Poirier (Charline); and predeceased by brothers John and Dennis Poirier.

Dave made lifelong friends growing up in the Secret Lake neighborhood of Avon. He graduated Avon High School in 1973 where he played football.

In 1979 he moved to Louisiana where he met and became instantly smitten with his future wife Julie. The two built a beautiful life together with their six children and eight grandchildren. The family made their home in greater New Orleans, followed by Knoxville, TN and Mobile, AL. He retired from Viking Fire Protection in 2020.

Dave is remembered for his kindness, humility and service to others, as well as his strong faith in the Lord.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, June 10th at 11am at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, 50 Church Street, Collinsville, CT. A Funeral Mass was previously held for David on April 21 in Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, Dave would want you to take a day to spend laughing and building memories with your family.
