Diane Carson Obituary

Diane M. Carson, 81, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023, with her youngest daughter holding her hand. Diane's mind was sharp, but her body was tired, and she was ready to be with her husband, who she had been missing for eight years. The daughter of James and Isabel Clancy, Diane was raised in Freeport, NY. In 1962, she married James Carson, and together they raised five children. After the birth of their fifth child, Diane returned to school and became a registered nurse. In 1977, the family moved from Freeport to Simsbury, where Diane and Jim lived for 35 years. Diane lost Jim, her life partner and best friend, in 2015. Diane was loving, fiercely loyal, and protective, and her family was her life. She will be dearly missed by her children, James of Ludlow, MA, MaryBeth and her husband Barry Becker of Troy, NY, Eileen and her husband Brian Harvey of Upton, MA, Thomas and his wife Marjorie, of Wethersfield, and Maureen and her husband Rodney Scudder of Unionville; her adoring and smart-alecky grandchildren, Sarah and Tom Becker, Patrick, James (Erin) and Katherine Harvey, Edie and Charlie Carson, and Ben, Walt, Kit and Lucy Scudder; her brother Brian Clancy (Lucille) of Bradenton, FL; extended family members; and many friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Diane was predeceased by her brother James Clancy, of Georgia. Diane last resided in Canton, where she was kept company by good neighbors and friends, regular visits from her children and grandchildren, and daily Zoom calls with her family that began in March 2020 and didn't end when the pandemic did. She loved red wine, buttery lobster, a good book, playing bridge, and cruises, and she was charmed in the last year of her life to witness another UConn men's basketball championship. We are blessed to have had such a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend in our lives. A memorial Mass for Diane will be held on September 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St, Hartford. Donations in Diane's memory may be made to the House of Bread (www.hobread.org), 27 Chestnut Street, Hartford, CT 06120.

You left this earth much too soon. I miss our phone calls and wish there had been more of them. You are on my mind ever so often. Love you still.

I just loved talking to Diane, hanging out with her at the family functions in Massachusetts and in Connecticut. She had an interesting sense of humor, and I always felt at home talking to her. She raised some amazing people and I love all of them.

I am guessing that Diane and James are hanging around Greenport NY or somewhere like it, in the after world.

Thank you Diane and my condolences go out to the Carson family...

To join the Clancy Family was like starting a new life and that life included Diane. She was always kind, loving and welcomed me with open arms!
She shared 21 years being teased by her brother, Jimmy, and gladly passed him on to me! You have never been truly Irish, until you became a Clancy. Their home was always filled with laughter, teasing, sarcasm and most of all Love. I will miss her dearly. My love to her family, Aunt Joyce
