Donald L. Hart

1945 - 2023

Donald Lloyd Hart, 77, of Hobe Sound, FL and Wethersfield, CT, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on March 24, 2023. Don was born in Hartford, CT on May 12, 1945 to the late Charles E. Hart and Alice McCoy Hart. While growing up in Wethersfield, he enjoyed boating on the Connecticut River in his Yellow Jacket Runabout and spending time around the Wethersfield Yacht Club, where his family had longtime memberships. He loved the beach, golfing, boating, fishing, cars, and always having fun. Don graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1963 and went on to Morse Business College of Hartford and University of Palm Beach before joining the United States Navy in 1968. Don served his country for four years during the Vietnam War, stationed in Hawaii and also on the Destroyer Escort USS Voge. After the Navy, he enjoyed living and working in North Palm Beach, FL where he started a family. Don moved back to Wethersfield in the 1980s and was a Vice-President of Human Resources at Industrial Risk Insurers in Hartford, CT until his retirement. There were many family trips to Disney World and hours spent at the beach. He enjoyed playing golf often and had the opportunity to play as an amateur in the Greater Hartford Open. Don retired to Mariner Sands and Lost Lake golf communities in the Stuart and Hobe Sound, FL area where he loved the warm weather and avoiding the cold and snowy CT winters.

Don is survived by his children who miss him dearly, Kim Wolf and her husband Bryan of Wethersfield, CT; and Dr. James Hart and his wife Sharon of Carlisle, MA; his grandchildren, Tyler Wolf, Emily Wolf, Dylan Wolf, Emmett Hart, and Clara Hart. He also leaves his brothers Edward Hart (Karen) and Richard Hart (Martha) of Steuben, ME, and his nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved dog Sandy, too.

A family graveside service will be held with military honors on May 12, 2023 at 10am at the Village Cemetery in Old Wethersfield, CT.
