Edward Cronin Obituary

Edward Charles Cronin, 78, of Canborne Way in Madison died Wednesday (February 20, 2002) at Middlesex Hospital Hospice after a brief illness. He was born June 20, 1923 in Troy, NY to the late John H. and Marie (Comeau) Cronin. He was the loving and beloved husband of Alice (Kawa) Cronin, his wife of 52 years. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Edward C. Cronin Jr. of Madison; two daughters, Susan C. Gravel and Connie J. Nielson both of Marblehead, MA; a brother, John Cronin of Watervliet, NY; two sisters, Marjorie Leonard of Waterford, NY, and Helene Pallela of Watervliet, NY. He is also survived by six grandchildren, "the apple of his eye", Haleigh, and Courtney Cronin, Andrew and Jordan Gravel, Danny Roundy and Tim Nielson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William O'Neill. Ed attended schools in Watervliet, NY and Siena College. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Marines. He retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. after 30 years service. He was an avid golfer and long time member of the Clinton Country Club, where he established many friendships. Calling hours will be held Friday, February 22, at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St. in Clinton from 4-7 p.m. The funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home Saturday, February 23, at 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Mary's Church of the Visitation at 10 a.m. The burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Middlesex Hospice, c/o Middlesex Hospital, 28 Crescent St., Middletown 06457.
