Elisabeth Philomena (Lederer) Hackner, 93, of Vernon, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, (Dec. 27, 2003). She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Hans Hackner. She was born in Karlshuld, Germany of the late Karl and Franziska (Lecheler) Lederer. She left her homeland in 1955 to be with her three children in America. She resided in Vernon for the rest of her life. Her passion was her family and her faith. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and caring for wild birds. She worked for Burr Nurseries and Manchester Modes for many years. She was a member of the Hartford Saengerbund and St. Bridget's Church. She was predeceased by her six sisters and seven brothers. Elisabeth is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Lotte and Hans Weiss, Erika and Alfred Meier, all of Vernon; son and daughter-in-law, Hans and Frieda Hackner, of Tolland; eight grandchildren, Robert Weiss and fianc e Karen Williams, Lisa Lelas and husband John, Heidemarie Frank and husband John, Harald Hackner and wife Kelly, Linda McClintock and husband Duncan, Alfred Meier and wife Susan, Richard Hackner and wife Lisa, Karl Hackner and wife Lottie; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Nathanial Hackner, Richard Hackner, Douglas Hackner, Erika Frank, Justin Hackner, Nicole Hackner, Jonathan Frank, Maria Meier, Lindsay Lelas, Alexandria and Alexcis Hackner, Lexy Lelas and Michael McClintock and many other relatives in the U.S. and Germany. There will be no calling hours. Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester is in care of the arrangements. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on December 29, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main Street, Manchester, followed by burial at St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Elisabeth's name to St. Bridget Church, 80 Main Street, Manchester, CT 06040.
