Emanuela Cassarino

CASSARINO, Emanuela "Nella" (Amato) Emanuela "Nella" (Amato) Cassarino, 84, of Wethersfield, passed away on Saturday (November 7, 2009) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Canicattini Bagni, Province of Siracusa, Italy, she was the devoted wife of the late Paolo Cassarino and daughter of the late Emanuele and Concettina (Mozzicato) Amato. She is survived by her two loving children; daughter Nuccia Amenta and husband Gaetano of Wethersfield and son Salvatore Cassarino and wife Lucia of Glastonbury; six cherished grandchildren: Gaetano Amenta, Jr. of Glastonbury, Jennifer Sala and husband Francesco of Glastonbury, Paolo Cassarino and fiancée, Megan "Mary" Wilkison of Colchester, Alessandro Cassarino, Daniel Cassarino and Claudia Cassarino all of Glastonbury; a brother Salvatore Amato and wife Barbara of Old Saybrook; and a nephew Michael Amato and wife Beverly of Hebron. On November 1, Nella lost her loving and dedicated husband of 62 years, Paolo; after an unbearable 5 1/2 days apart, their reunion is complete. While her passing comes at a difficult time, we take comfort in the fact that she is resting peacefully with her husband. She will be missed dearly and is remembered fondly for being a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Nella was a member of the Daughters of Canicattini Bagni as well as a weekly participant of Bingo at the Wethersfield Community Center with her husband. Funeral service is Tuesday, (November 10 at 10 a.m.), from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's Church, 66 Bolton St., Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday (TODAY) from 4 -7 p.m. at the funeral home.
