RUSCONI, Ervin "Rusty"
Ervin "Rusty" Rusconi passed peacefully on October 28, 2013. Born July 1, 1912, Rusty reached the venerable age of 101 years. For the past several weeks, he had been surrounded by loving family members. Throughout this period he continued to show his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. His beloved wife Alba, who predeceased him by exactly two months, and Rusty were just shy of celebrating 74 years of marriage. Rusty leaves his two sons and daughers-in-law and their families, Philip and Joan Rusconi of Tolland CT, their children, Jacob, Matthew and Lisa; and Robert and June Rusconi of Florida and their children Mark, Michael and Jessica. In addition to his loving Grandchildren, he is also survived by eight great grandchildren and a loving niece, Linda Amirault, and nephew Carl Ohlin, and their families. Ervin relocated from Barre, VT to Manchester in 1942. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney in Plant Security for nearly 40 years. "Rusty" was well known in the greater Manchester area as an avid bowler who at 101 years of age had the distinction of being the most senior member of the P&WA retiree bowling league. He had been an active softball player and a member of many bowling leagues. A communicant of The Church of the Assumption, Rusty served as an usher at Sunday services. After retiring, he volunteered as a greeter and guide at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed sports, especially Patriots, Red Sox and UConn Husky games. Rusty and Alba enjoyed traveling. They took many vacations together including trips to Europe, Italy, Florida, and various other destinations. They also enjoyed jaunts to racing facilities where they met with friends to enjoy the excitement. Rusty loved playing horse shoes, bocce, and wiffle ball at regular family gatherings. He was an institution in his family and always brought much joy, support and good humor. For those who saw him actively playing at his hundreth birthday party, he was an inspiration to all. He will be dearly missed.
