Ewen CAMERON Obituary

CAMERON, Ewen William Ewen William "Bill" Cameron, 80, of East Granby, beloved husband of June Taft (Ford) Cameron, passed away suddenly Friday (February 19, 2010) at his home. Born in Palmer, MA, son of the late Ewen L. Cameron and Dora (Bowker) Cameron, he lived in East Granby for the past 42 years. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years attaining the rank of M/Sgt. and was a veteran of World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the 75th Fighter Interceptor Squadron "Last of the Flying Tigers" and received many commendations including the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. After his retirement he was the service manager at Stephens Chevrolet for almost 30 years retiring in 1999. Bill was a past president of the Chevrolet Service Managers Club, a member of the Model A Club of Connecticut, and enjoyed rebuilding cars, frequenting cars shows and boating. He was also a former member of the Masons and Shriner's. Besides his wife he leaves a son, Ewen William "Bill" Cameron Jr. and Yuna Davtyan of Willington; two daughters, Kimberly Cameron Lackenbach and her husband Craig of Newington, Mary Cameron Groman of New Britain; four grandchildren, Jessica Lackenbach Ziff and Joel Ziff, Cara Lackenbach, Eric Groman and Jennifer Groman; and his step-mother, Shirley Cameron of Bloomfield; and many cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor with the Rev. Ira Cameron officiating. Burial with full U.S. Air Force honors will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield. His family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Dept., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
