Francesca Picone Obituary

PICONE, Francesca Francesca Picone, 73, of Brownstone Dr., Southington passed away with her family at her side on Thursday, (July 5, 2007) at UCONN Health Center. She was the wife of the late Aniello Picone. Born in Piano di Sorrento, Italy, on Nov. 24, 1933, the daughter of the late Francesco and Maria (Aversa) Valestra. Prior to her retirement she had been employed by Five Star Manufacturing, Plantsville. Mrs. Picone was a faithful parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church. After the sudden death of her husband in January 1974, she dedicated her life to raising her five sons who were the joy of her life. She was the happiest surrounded by her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She leaves her five sons, Dr. Joseph Picone and his wife, Carmelina with whom she lived, Peter Picone and his wife, JoAnne all of Southington, Mario Picone and his wife, Monica of Florida, Aniello Picone Jr. of Southington, and Angelo Picone and his wife, MariaNeve of Meriden; her cherished grandchildren, Aniello, Joseph Jr., Francesca, Neil, Anthony, Francesco, Michael, Daniel and Eros; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Rosa Esposito and a brother, Giuseppe Valestra. The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Guest, the Nursing Staff at UCONN Health Center, the Southington VNA and especially Diane and Roberta for their loving care and support. The Funeral will be held on Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
