FARRAR, Francis A. (Fran)
Francis A. Farrar (Fran), 77, of Windsor Locks, CT beloved husband of Dorleen (Matthess) Farrar, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2nd, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with ALS, Lou Gehrigs disease. Fran was born December 5, 1935 in Newton, MA, son of the late James & Helen (Sullivan) Farrar and was predeceased by his brothers James, Raymond, Kenneth and Norman Farrar and his sister Helen (Farrar) Swift. Fran was a proud Marine. He was a successful businessman and hard worker. He ran his own business in the printing industry where he was a salesman for Precision Roller Corporation until his retirement in 1995. Fran delighted in entertaining family and friends. He loved hosting a party. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer. He treasured the simple things in life. Making dinner for his family and friends was one of his greatest pleasures. He had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, reading and spending time at his home in Florida during the winter. Besides his wife of 16 years, Fran was the proud and loving father and grandfather to his daughter Nancy (Farrar) Reardon and her husband Barry of Granby, CT His son, Ken Farrar of Norwalk, CT his step-daughter Denise (Power) Arciszewski and her husband Paul of Suffield, CT, step-son Richard Power and his wife Lynn, of Southwick, MA, and step-daughter Mary Lou (Power) Cotter and her husband Greg of Chittenango, New York; his grandchildren Lindsay Reardon and her boyfriend Tom Connelly of Rochester NY, Mark Reardon of Los Angeles, CA, Jack, Nick, and Samantha Farrar of Norwalk, CT and his step-grandchildren, Tyler and Krista Arciszewski of Suffield, CT, Samantha, Sarah and Richard Power of Southwick, MA and Morgan and Shawn Cotter of Chittenango, NY, his Sister, Nancy Farrar of Watertown, MA., and several special nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and his dogs Teddy and Bootz. Fran's family would like to give a special thanks to John & Elaine Masley for their care and support and to the Willcare Staff and Interim Hospice.
The family will receive friends and family at their home at 40 Midland Road Windsor Locks, CT on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 1-5 p.m. to celebrate Fran's life. Donations in Fran's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
