BOURNE, Frank Robert "Bob" Frank Robert "Bob" Bourne, 84, of Portland, died peacefully Thursday, (October 12, 2006), at Middlesex Hospital. He was the loving husband of Anna Wilk Bourne for 61 years. Bob was born on May 4, 1922 in Meriden to Frank E. and Ruth Jepson Bourne and he graduated from Meriden High School in 1940. He had served in the United States Navy for four years and was discharged in April 1946. He was the owner of Bourne Buick, in Manchester, for 11 years and later operated a school bus company serving Durham and Middlefield, later expanding into other towns and motor coach transportation until his retirement in 1987. He will be remembered for his generosity, easy smile, and kindness to evereyone he knew. His two daughters, Patricia Burkhart and her husband, Lawrence and Mary Rittman all of Cromwell, and his son, Richard and his wife, Nancy of East Hampton, survive him. He was the proud grandfather of Jody Rittman and his wife, Heather, Stacy and Melanie Bourne, and Robert Burkhart, and great-grandfather of Jason and Makayla Rittman. His grandson, Jason Rittman and son-in-law, Kenneth Rittman predeceased him. He also leaves his sister, Elsie Bourne L'Heureux of Meriden; several nieces and nephews, and his special friend Michael Angeli of Portland. The family would like to thank the staff of Portland Care and Rehab Center and Middlesex Hospital Palliative and Hospice Care Unit for the special care given to Bob. His family will recieve relatives and friends in the Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main St., Portland, Sunday from 4 - 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:15 a.m. from the Portland Memorial and at 11 a.m. in the Church of Saint Mary for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment, with military honors, will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. I want to say my thoughts and prayers are out to everyone who's life has been touched by Bob. I have many fond memories of him at the bus yard. He is now resting peacefully with Jason and Kenny..
