FILIPIAK, Genevieve "Jean" Helen Genevieve "Jean" Helen Filipiak, entered into eternal rest on Friday, (May 14, 2004) at Baystate Medical Center. She was the daughter of Vincent and Melania ( Topolska) Filipiak and lived most of her life in Indian Orchard. She spent summers at her home at Lake Hayward, Connecticut. Genevieve was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard where she was a former member of the choir. She also held membership in animal protection groups. She studied at American International college and at Fitchburg State Teachers College. Genevieve had been a sewing teacher at Putman High School, followed by employment in the Engineering Department at Hamilton Standard Division in Windsor Locks. She continued teaching dressmaking for the Springfield Adult Education evening classes and was very talented in needle-work and crafts. In her younger years she enjoyed skating on Dimmock Pond, swimming in Loon Pond, both in Indian Orchard. She also enjoyed Horseback riding and skiing. She leaves her beloved sister, Stacia Falkowski; her dear nephew, Vincent Falkowski; and special friend, Wallace Kozlowski from Chicopee, MA. She also leaves godchildren, cousins and friends. There are no calling hours. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held TODAY, 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 25 Parker St., Indian Orchard, MA, followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. jeannie was a very nice woman she made my moms uncle a very happy man.i know he and i will miss her alot.i spent easter with jeannie and my moms uncle and we had a wonderful time i will treasure that always.
