My comments on George and our almost 50-year friendship were written and rewritten a dozen times and nothing seemed to do his good deeds and hard work justice. So, I'll just say it was my pleasure to have known him. Thank you, George, for your faith in humanity. Rest in Peace. See you soon

I also had the good fortune to have known George many years ago and have him as a friend. I was able to spend may a weekend on the EAST WIND. He helped me through a very difficult time in my life and was generous to a fault. He was a remarkable person and he will be missed by anyone who knew him.

I had the good fortune to get to know George when he came to visit Vinalhaven. His generosity to Vinalhaven Land Trust is legendary. He gave us land dedicated to the memory of his friend Gus Skoog and helped us restore the boat house where his lobster boat was built. We will miss his warm spirit, colorful stories and his thoughtfulness.
