George KRAR Obituary

KRAR, George R. Sr.

George R. Krar Sr., 74, of Suffield, beloved husband of Kathleen (Barrett) Krar, died peacefully on Tuesday, (November 5, 2013), at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 24, 1939, in New Britain, CT, son of the late George J. and Mary (Fetchik) Krar. A graduate of New Britain High School with the Class of 1956, George went on to serve our country with the U.S. Army while stationed in Panama. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hartford. A resident of Suffield for over 40 years, George worked as a project engineer for United Technologies, Inc., retiring in 2000 following 35 years of service. Throughout his career, George traveled the world, often times accompanied by his family. During his younger years, he was a passionate white water kayaker, and enjoyed skiing, stamp collecting, playing ice hockey and softball. Later on George especially treasured the times taking his children and their friends out to the brewpubs for happy hour, during which he eagerly shared his stories of adventure. George and Kathy loved entertaining and going out to new restaurants. He also enjoyed his special time with Nicholas during their weekly dinners. George was a caring and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all. Along with his wife of 48 years, Kathleen, he leaves his daughter, Lorianne Nutini and her husband Robert of Suffield; his sons, George Krar Jr. and his wife Meghan of Suffield and Andrew Krar and his wife Eileen of Suffield; his brother, Richard Krar and his wife Patricia of Hobe Sound, FL; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Isabella, Ethan, Michael, Joseph, and Emersyn, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Abby.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, November 9, 2013, 8:30 a.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. (Rt. 159) Suffield; with a time of sharing to begin at 9 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Mary Church in Windsor Locks.
