Gert was a very dear lady and a good friend. She had a way of making those around her feel special and cared about. Gert was always so friendly and engaging with everyone she met and was always quick to share a laugh or smile. She was a ray of sunshine in so many people's lives. Gert will be missed dearly.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to Gert's entire family. I worked with Gert for several years in the 1980's at the Farmington Ave. office of the former Hartford National Bank, and I remember her fondly. She worked as a teller at the branch and truly epitomized friendly customer service. Her customers would often wait for her so they could enjoy her spirit and lively conversation. She always had a smile on her face as she greeted each customer. In later years, as a Wethersfield resident, I sometimes would see her at Incarnation Church, and she always had that same bright and cheery smile!

Back in the 1970's, I was a friend of Gert's daughter, Mary. Gert always treated me like family . To this day I have such fond memories of being at her house. Unfortunately I lost contact with everyone after I got married, but was pleased to find out that she lived a long life.
My deepest sympathy to the whole family.

I knew Gert when I was a child as my parents became friendly with she and her husband through their mutual friendship with Jim and Mickey Allen.

I met her again when I was an adult when I was a patient at Ellis Manor after an accident. I, of course, continued to call her Mrs. McCabe and she would always tell me to call her by her first name. I had a hard time doing that but eventually was able to do that. We enjoyed many good times sharing meals and participating in activities while at Ellis.

I always enjoyed talking with her. Her love and devotion to her family and her faith were obvious.

She is now resting in peace with her husband and the many friends who have passed on before her. She is just in time for the St. Patrick's Day party on the other side.

My condolences to her family.

Many decades ago I worked in the same Hartford National Bank building on Farmington Avenue as Gert. I remember how vibrant she was, always smiling. My condolences to her family on her loss.
