I have just learned of "Norm" (Greg's) passing and the news stunned me. When I was a student at Saint Mary's College, and he was at Notre Dame, we had many friends in common and I saw him several times weekly! After college, I lived in Chicago for a year and then D.C., and we got together from time to time when he was at Georgeown Medical School. Always fun, always kind, empathetic and smart, always 100% himself. I imagine he was a wonderful doctor, and from these sentiments, it sounds so. RIP Norm, and my condolences to your family.

My wife Mary and I are very sad to learn of Dr. Sheehan's passing. He was my Dr. briefly while he was with Dr. Phil Karanian. Dr. Sheehan had the biggest smile and caring, compassionate manner. My deepest sympathies to all. I grew up around the corner on Sedgwick, and since I can remember, Greg was always smiling or laughing. From when we were little kids, at Notre Dame and since. What an awesome guy to have known. The world is going to be that much dimmer with out him, but all my memories of him will shine on. He was one great guy, I always looked forward to seeing him. I will light a few candles for him at the Grotto this year and wish him the best of journeys onward.

One of our own is gone today
The ultimate price he had to pay.
He filled this world with peace and joy
Someone who I'm proud to call my boy.
The ticket man, always in the know
Will be present at every show.
The Fighting Irish has lost the best
But cheer he will while he rest.
Maybe out of sight but not out of mind
Impossible for someone who was so kind.
Peace my brother unto you,
We'll meet again on the other side.

On behalf of the Notre Dame Class of 1990, our deepest condolences go out to Dr. Sheehan's family. He was a beloved member of the Class earning the nickname "Norm" while on campus (after the gregarious character on Cheers). We will raise a toast in his honor at the Duke - Notre Dame game on September 24.

My dear Maribeth,
I am so, so sorry and terribly sad to hear about Greg's death. Like his father, he was much too young to be taken from you. My heart aches for you having to face this kind of grief once again.
In addition to being a "family friend", he was also my doctor before I moved from CT to CA.
I found him to be an excellent doctor, and really compassionate and caring.
My thoughts, prayers and sympathy go out to you, and to Greg's siblings and family, as I know all of you will greatly miss his spirit, energy and smile.
With love and hugs....

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of the members of the Sheehan family. Greg was beyond an amazing person, doctor and mostly friend. I know him from working at the Hebrew Home together. He was a great teacher to me and always made me think. Pushing me to hurry up to continue with my education. He was a great person to listen whenever u needed,(especially when he talked to me on way to my first date with my now husband , just to make sure I was ok). We spend many of nights after my shifts talking. He helped with the care of my family members, and of course he would always say he was my managing Doctor! Greg will always hold a special place in my heart. You will be missed!

Maribeth and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. My memories of Greg take me back to our pre-teen days at Black Point; , movie nights, dances, club, swimming lessons,
and later in life treating me for various illnesses. Greg accomplished much in his 48 years and I know he had much more to give. May he rest in peace!

On behalf of the entire Murphy family from Black Point, I want to express our sadness and sincere condolences to the Sheehan family. There is no family in this world like the Sheehans! Dr. and Mrs. Sheehan raised such good, good children who went on to become such great people in this world. We had the privilege of growing up with Greg, Maura, Brendan, Meghan, Matthew and Melissa. Greg was such an incredible big brother and oldest sibling. We have vivid, wonderful memories of him with all of his sibs at the beach, at Club, on the courts. When I think of Greg, I have an image of him at age 12 or so, smiling with his red hair wet from swimming in the Bay! Everyone was in awe of the strength, determination, and goodness of the Sheehan family... Mrs. Sheehan and her six young kids lost their beloved husband and father far too soon in life. Their example as a family and Greg's as an oldest brother is forever inspiring to us. We wish Greg and his dad, Dr. Sheehan eternal peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Sheehans. With sincere sympathy, The Murphy Family- Anne, Pam, Karen and Lauren

To the Sheehan family:
I knew Dr. Sheehan since I was 15 years old. He was my mother's physician ( and mine!)He has always been a household name at our house. He had such a kind way about him and was always there for us. I have admired him in many capacities as the years have gone by. First, my mother had a tremendous amount of respect for him. She trusted him and felt he always wanted the best for her and our family. He was always available to her. Part of watching him and how he is inspired me to want to go to medical school. And I was in my first year When she died, at the age of 56, he came to the icu at st. Francis and grieved with us. After that, I went to see him several times while I was struggling with dealing with my mother's unexpected death and medical school. He was a pillar of support for me and I doubt he ever even knew it. When he left private practice, we managed to keep in touch here and there. He even sent me a patient and I thought and still think of this as a high honor. When I read the news today, I was shocked and saddened. I told my sister and she said ,(and I couldn't say it better myself), " He was just doing his job, but he was always such a big part of our lives". It's true, not a day goes by I don't think of him . I know that as Dr. Sheehan's family you must be going through a horrific time, I hope you can take comfort in all the lives he touched. I'm sure my family is not the only one who could say things like I am saying. As a patient, I always felt his empathy and compassion. As a fellow physician, I admire his dedication, his superb clinical instinct and ability to be very present for his patients. As a friend, I am very sad today.
I am thinking and praying for all of you.
Kate Pascucci and family.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Dr. Sheehan at the Hebrew Home as Nursing Supervisor for many years. Regardless of what was happening, he remained objective and supportive to the staff. When my mother passed away of advanced Alzheimers disease after eight years at the Hebrew Home, he and the nursing supervisor called and comforted me. My sincere condolences to Dr. Sheehan's family.

I had the good fortune of being a patient of Dr Sheehan and later, he cared for my cousin, Gerry, at Hebrew Home after Gerry had his leg amputated. My husband conferred w/ him (not even his patient) after being diagnosed w/ prostate cancer on a Friday afternoon. My husband was scared and Dr Sheehan took the time to educate him and reassure, even drawing him a diagram to explain in the empty waiting room(it was after office hours and my husband's MD was unavailable) . Dr Sheehan was a caring , compassionate man who touched and changed the lives of many and I will never forget his kindnesses. I am so sorry to you, his family, for your loss. Heaven is richer for his presence." Job well done !!!"...guess that is what it is all about God Bless All of You !
