Harriet Morris Obituary

Harriet Sylvia Morris, age 90, of Tamarac, FL, formerly of West Hartford, CT passed away on December 22, 2023. She was born on April 8, 1933 in Hartford. Harriet was known for her shining vocals and piano skills, which brought joy to her and those around her throughout her life. She met her husband, David, at the CT shoreline in the mid-1940s, and they married in 1952 during his service in the USMC. After David's retirement from teaching in 1989, they made their home in CT and enjoyed their shared love of travel and the ocean at their beach cottage on Cape Cod. Harriet was elegant and loved hosting bridge parties in her FL home. After David's passing in 2012 Harriet met another wonderful man, Seldan A. Lazarow who would be her last bridge partner. Harriet found in Sel another devoted loving companion, advocate and protector.

Harriet is survived by her sons, Bruce and Jason Morris, their respective spouses Nancy Akell and Lee Morris, and her grandchildren Ben, Sheri, and Rachel. She is preceded in death by her husband David Morris, her brother William Weisman, and her parents Abraham Weisman and Sophie Weisman (Okun).

Harriet attended Weaver High School, graduating in the class of 1951, and went on to further her education at Uconn. She dedicated her career to being a homemaker and part-time secretary.

A graveside service and burial will take place at 12:30 PM on January 5, 2023, at the FVJC cemetery in Avon, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Her legacy as a life master status ACBL will continue to inspire others. May she rest in peace.
