Ignacy Moranski Obituary

MORANSKI, Ignacy E. "Ike" Ignacy E."Ike" Moranski, of New Britain, died Saturday (July 28, 2007) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General. Ike was born in Krolowa, Poland, and was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Bednarz) Moranski. Ike served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he served his country honorably receiving the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the United Nations Service Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked as an auto body technician for Turnpike Motors, Newington, for several years. Ike was a member of Holy Cross Church, New Britain, the Holy Name Society at Holy Cross Church, the P.N.A., where he was past President, and served on many committees. He was a past member of the New Britain Ski Club and he enjoyed gardening, skiing, fishing, spending time at the beach, enjoying his grandchildren and spending time with his cats. Ike is survived by his two sons, Edward Moranski and his wife, Deborah of Brattleboro, VT, and Paul Moranski of New Hartford; five grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Stephanie, Zofia and Lydia Moranski, and several nieces and nephews. Ike was predeceased by his wife, Florence "Liz" (Godinski) Moranski, his son, Steven Moranski and his close friend, Mary Samochwastowski. Funeral rites for Ike will be held Wednesday, August 1 with the procession departing at 9:15 am from the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, New Britain. Burial with full military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burritt St., New Britain. The American Flag will be presented to his son, Ed. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, Wednesday from 8:15-9:15 a.m. Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West - Exit 37 (Fienemann Road) Right off exit - one mile down on right.
