Ms. Jacqualine
I am grateful to God to have met you. Whenever I decide to complain I'll think of all you endured without complaining. I'll remember the times we cried then we laughed after. I am so sorry I was not there to see you go with Jesus. To be absent in the body is to be present with Him! I am glad that when you were part of the reason and season in my life I was there. I love you and will keep our memories in my heart. I'll see you when Jesus comes for me!

On behalf of all of us at Gray Lodge, The Shelter for Women, we would like express our condolences to Jackie's family on her passing. Jackie worked at Gray Lodge as our cook for several years and those of us who were here then fondly remember her home cooked meals for the girls. The picture in the paper shows the smiling energetic woman we remember so well she will be missed. We extend our thoughts and prayers to her family.

To All of "Jackie's" Family & Friends - Losing "Jackie" is so sad. She was a woman of strength and quiet power who made all around her happy, no matter what kind of day you were having. Bad got better and good got even brighter whenever she was around. She was a great cook and an even greater person. She will be missed and we are all blessed for having known her. God's blessings to us all and keep believing that although she is gone from us physically, she will now be able to watch over and keep loving all of us in her true angel form.

I spent many years working for the YMCA & met so many people during that time. For the last months, I was given the opportunity to over-see the Jewell House program. In that time, I came to realize that Ms. Jacqueline had to be one of the kindest & strongest people I've ever known. She was a true blessing to the Jewell House program, and anyone who knew her. Not only was she a wonderful cook, but she was a kind & warm-hearted soul. She put her heart into whatever she did. She treated everyone, from the girls in Jewell House, to the staff throughout the building as though they were family. And all she asked for in return, was a smile & respect. Those of us whom were Blessed with her touching our lives, will never forget her. I so admired her for her strength & courage. No matter how bad a situation, she found the good in it & made the best of it. She always projected happiness, no matter how sad or tired she may have been. I will truly miss her smiling face & her little "happy dances" that she'd do.
May God Bless Her Soul with Eternal Rest.
My Deepest Sympathies
to her family.

I had the pleasure of working very closely with Mrs Jacqueline at the YMCA. We shared lots of laughs, tears and prayers. The last time we talked we did the same thing laughed , prayed, and cried. I will cherish those times . I'll keep the family in my prayers, espeically her grandaughter Amina who she always, always spoke so highly of .

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I knew Jacqueline for about 2 years or so from our time at the Downtown YMCA. She was a wonderful person who was so very thoughtful and caring. I enjoyed many talks with her about her work in the Jewell House at the YMCA as well as her dreams of opening up her own business. She was a great cook who made lunch for me on more than one occasion. She will be missed greatly and her positive attitude and wonderful personality serve as examples for others to follow.

I personally will cherish the memories of Ms. Jackie. I will never forget her beautiful smile and loving spirit towards me. I will always remember the Christmas Dinner we had in which she cooked a delicatable dinner. Amina Aunte loves you and we will all see Jackie soon when we all meet Jesus. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy does come in the morning.

Lola, I don't even know where to start. You & Jackie were my "big foster cousins" on Barbour St, my 2nd home with my grandmother. Although we have lost touch over the years I will never forget the memories & can't believe Jackie is gone so soon. One thing I have learned over the years & helped me get through my own mother's/grandmother's death is while we scream, kick, moan, & cry good-bye on this side, there is a whole crew/family re-union shouting welcome/hooray on the other side. Jackie is in God's/good hands now and we in Christ will all re-unite bye & bye. Love Dawn

To Jackie's Family,
I knew her only briefly at the YMCA. We worked on the same floor for a year and she was always so happy and energetic. I was so proud and honored to know her. She worked hard for her degree and never gave up on moving forward in whatever she decided to do.
I will miss her. God Bless to all her family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
