James Rosati Obituary

James (Jim) Arthur Rosati, 72 of Manchester, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2022, at Manchester Manor, Manchester, CT. Born the first son of the late Robert E. Rosati and Gloria (Lamoureux) Rosati on December 1, 1949, in Potsdam, New York, he was a lifelong resident of Connecticut, settling in Manchester for the last 38 years. Jim was employed by the Travelers Insurance Company and then Pratt and Whitney (P&W) East Hartford for almost 40 years retiring in 2016. He was a self-taught computer genius working his entire career in an IT supporting role within the engineering and performance groups at P&W. He was also a self-taught virtuoso on the guitar, who spent most of his life entertaining fans with his exceptional song writing and musician skills performing in many bands throughout the decades. Jim wrote jingles for local businesses and radio personalities in has younger years, taught many aspiring young musicians how to play the guitar, and donated his time and talent over the years to support Ray Beller's Scholarship and All-Star Jams where all proceeds from these events went to high school students who plan to continue music education in college. Jim was also a practical joker who loved to make people, and himself, laugh. Many of his friends and colleagues still reminisce about his elaborate jokes from years past. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his beloved daughter Ciara Lilly Rosati. He leaves behind his wife of 37 years Gail (Henson) Rosati and his grandson Darius James Brycen Semmens, both of Manchester, his brothers Peter E, Rosati and Robert C Rosati and his wife Lisa Bambara Rosati, all from South Windsor, and his sister and brother-in-law Debra (Rosati) Janus and Edward T. Janus of Mystic / Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He also leaves behind three brothers-in-laws, Rick Henson of East Hartford, Keith, and his wife Rita (Ianni) Henson of Glastonbury, and Jeff and his wife Jennifer Henson of Somers, plus 10 nieces and nephews and 8 Grand nieces and nephews. We'd also like to recognize and thank the nurses and staff at Manchester Manor and his hospice nurse Donna from Vernon Visiting Nurses for their comfort and care of Jim. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Vernon Visiting Nurses. Funeral services are private at the request of his family. We are very sorry for your loss. We remember listening to Jim play guitar, with Rob on drums, at Rob & Lisa's home. Hold on to all the wonderful family memories you share.

Gail, Rob and family,

I'm so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I hope you all are comforted by knowing how many people were blessed to know him. Jim quickly became one of my favorite people at P&W when I joined back in 1988 because of his outgoing nature, his unique knack for practical jokes, and his love of music. Being one of the many amateur (very amateur) guitarists in the PPG group, I had good cause to get to know Jim quite well and he very kindly became my mentor in that respect. I spent more than a few evenings in Jim's basement studio (which was immaculate) learning the art of guitar setup and maintenance, and stealing riffs from him (if I could play them...). He ran the sound board for the band I played in with Rob and was just a great friend who was always willing to help. May God comfort you in your loss. Jim was one of the good ones.

Best,
Chuck Curtiss
