Jane Burdick Obituary

BURDICK, Jane E. Jane E. Burdick, 90, of Winchester and formerly of Suffield and Simsbury, died on Friday, (April 18, 2008) at Winchester Hospital. Born in Providence, RI on June 21, 1917 as the daughter of John F. Edge and Elizabeth Nuzum Edge, Mrs. Burdick was the the loving wife of the late Leander S. Burdick for over 55 years. Mrs. Burdick was a resident of the Winchester Mount Vernon House and a member of the Parish of the Epiphany of Winchester, MA, Trinity Episcopal Church of Simsbury, CT, the AARP, the YWCA and the Winchester Seniors Association. She was employed by Fireman's Fund Insurance Company for 11 years, retiring in 1982. Affectionately nicknamed "Greena" by her family, Mrs. Burdick is survived by her son, Glenn L. Burdick, daughter-in-law Carol Varnum Burdick, and grandson Joshua Burdick of Winchester, as well as nephew David Carpenter of West Hartford, CT and niece Nancy Carpenter Chiler of Medway, MA. She was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Anne, and her sister, Anne E. Carpenter. Mrs. Burdick's family welcomes relatives and friends to pay their respects at the Lane funeral Home, 760 Main Street, Winchester, MA from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2008. A service will be held in the Lane Funeral Home at 7 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Robert G. Trache, Rector of the Parish of the Epiphany. A private Internment ceremony will be held in Exeter, RI during late May. The ceremony will be preceded by a memorial service at the Parish of the Epiphany in Winchester, MA, the details of which will be published as available. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jane's Memory to: The Parish of the Epiphany, 70 Church Street, Winchester, MA 01890.
