Jean Iwanicki

1949 - 2015

Jean P. Iwanicki, 65, of East Hartford, beloved wife for 44 years of Joseph J. Iwanicki, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015 surrounded by her family at Hartford Hospital. Born in Wola Zarczycka, Poland on October 22, 1949, daughter of the late John and Mary (Szczepanski) Pierog, she was raised in Poland before immigrating to the United States with her family in 1958. Jean lived in Hartford before moving to East Hartford in 1979 where she and her husband raised their two sons. A retiree of New England Typographic Services, Jean started as a typesetter and later worked as a desktop publisher until her retirement in 2006 after over 30 years of service. She was a communicant of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford. Most of all, Jean will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved spending time with and taking care of her two grandchildren. Besides her loving husband, she leaves two sons, Thomas Iwanicki and Mark Iwanicki both of Plainville; a brother, Walter Pierog of East Hartford; a sister, Anne Lovejoy-Long and her husband Jerry of Chantilly, VA; two grandchildren whom she cherished, Paige and Jason Iwanicki; two brothers-in-law, Mitch Iwanicki and his wife Gosia and Jan Iwanicki all of Poland; two sisters-in-law, Gienia Szozda and her husband Mitch of Maspeth, NY and Maria Rafalowski and her husband Stanley of Suffield; five nephews, Marcin Iwanicki of Poland, Piotr Iwanicki of Poland, Jack Rafalowski and his wife Aneta of East Granby, Chris Szozda and his wife Agnes of Long Island, NY, and Chris Lovejoy of Chantilly, VA; and five nieces, Jessica Viggiano and her husband Greg of East Granby, Renata Kurowski and her husband Krys of Maspeth, NY, Beata Balut of England, Ania Iwanicki of Poland, and Jola Iwanicki of Poland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, October 2, 10 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford. Burial will be private.
