John ACETO Obituary

ACETO, John W. John W. Aceto, 88, of Manchester and Old Saybrook, beloved husband of 60 years to the late Ruth (Patten) Aceto passed away Monday, (November 22, 2010) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. John was born February 17, 1922 in Manchester to the late Pasquale and Anna (Cacciapaglia) Aceto, attended local schools and had been a lifelong resident. He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country during World War II where he fought in the Battles of Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. John was employed with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a lead-man for over forty years until retiring in 1979. He was a Communicant of St. Bartholomew Church in Manchester and St. John's Church in Old Saybrook. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Campbell Council #573, and a member of B.P.O.E. #1893 in Manchester and was an avid duckpin bowler. John is survived by his three children, Larry Aceto and his wife, Stevie of Manchester, Laurie Aceto of Manchester and Lynn Policella and her husband, Richard of Medfield, MA, seven loving grandchildren, John Ditmer and his wife, Michele of Tolland, Cailin Donahue and her husband, Benjamin of Bolton, Kate Borofsky and her husband, Peter of Manchester, Michael Aceto and his fiancée, Jessica Taylor of East Hartford and Shaun, Justin and Ryan Policella all of Medfield, MA, three great-grandchildren, Christina and Brian Ditmer and Jack Borofsky. He also leaves his two brothers, Joseph Aceto of Dayton, OH, Nene Aceto and his wife, Emma of Manchester, his sister-in-law, Fran Aceto of Manchester and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents John was predeceased by his two brothers, Paul and Peter Aceto and his three sisters, Beatrice Ames, Julia LaRiviere and Antoinette LaVallee. Funeral services will be Saturday, (November 27, 2010) at 9 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be Friday, (November 26, 2010) from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
