Dear Dottie, I just learned that my wonderful great-uncle John passed away and I am so sad to hear it. He was such a loving man and a favorite cousin of my dad, Walter. I have so many warm memories of him and you at family parties, dinners at your home, sitting in the pew at church every Sunday, and being such a faithful friend to my mom after dad died. I can see his great smile and hear his deep, warm voice even as I write this! My thoughts and prayers are with you, Dottie. May God's grace keep you in perfect peace. Love, Elspeth

My strongest memories of John were his big handshake and hello, his great smile and his laugh that made you laugh along with him. All of my memories of John are good 'fun' memories. He was always a pleasure to be around.

Dear Dottie and family, I am saddened by your loss. I don't think I can add anything to what my brother Gordon and my Dad already wrote about John. I will always remember those visits at my grandparents in West Hartford.

Dear Aunt Dottie,

Uncle John was our favorite uncle. My brothers and sister and I loved visiting both of you at Grandma Brash's house on Sunset Terrace when we were all young. He made me promise not to get any tattoos while I was in the Marines, and I didn't. I remember drinking a beer or two (or three!) at his bar he built in the basement. I miss him terribly. And I will remember the both of you in my prayers.

Dear Dottie,
There are no words that can express the loss of John. He was one of the "good guys." Charlotte and I always looked forward to the family parties on Sunset Dr. that Marjorie Brash hosted when you and John came to light up the place. I understand the "empty place" that you will experience. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

To Dottie, Bobby and Family. It is with great sadness that I learned of John's passing. My experiences working with John at P&W O&R were many and always enjoyable! He was a boss, mentor but most of all, a cherished friend. My greatest memory of John was when we held his retirement picnic at a friend's house. We asked John to go into the garage to find an extra grill and much to his surprise, there was his son Bobby, waiting for him. Bobby had flown in from Chicago for this special event. John's smile spread across the entire backyard!! I still have a picture of he and Bobby sharing a beer that day. I could go on and on about the very special memories that I have of this great person. Suffice it to say that I will miss him always.

Mrs Brash and family,
I was saddened to hear of Mr Brashes` passing. He was a fantastic guy.I will always remember our family`s time living next door on Elmfield Street. You and Mr Brash were so kind to us. I know my dad Gil always enjoyed talking to John and he always took the time to try and instill some knowledge and advice to us teenagers about our future and it was always and is still appreciated. Just a really wonderful man. I am sorry for your loss. You and your family are in our prayers.
