John Braue Obituary

John Wesley Braue, Jr. of Glastonbury died at home on Sunday, October 9, 2016. John was born on July 24, 1925 in Passaic, New Jersey, the son of John Wesley Braue, Sr. and Estelle (Schultz) Braue, and grew up in Carlstadt, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1947, attaining the rank of first lieutenant and receiving the American Theatre Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. He received his bachelors degree in aeronautical engineering and his masters degree in mechanical engineering from New York University, and pursued a career in engineering at Curtiss-Wright, Pratt & Whitney, and United Technologies. He was a lifelong, very avid fan of the New York Yankees, and in recent decades cheered for the New England Patriots as well. He enjoyed gardening, especially in his backyard vegetable garden. He also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, working them in ink. John is survived by three children, John III, Kathryn, and James. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Hertzel), and his son Robert. At John's request, there will be no memorial service.
