DEEGAN, John F., Sr.
John F. Deegan Sr., 80, of South Main St., Middletown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of 60 years to Angela ( Lastrina ) Deegan. Born on Aug. 31, 1932 in Middletown; son of the late William and Elizabeth ( Pelchat ) Deegan. A life long resident of Middletown, and a graduate of Middletown High School. A veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Air Force, John retired in 1992 from Pratt & Whitney after 34 years of service. A member of St. Sebastian Church, the Elks B.P.O.E. 771 and American Legion Post 75. Besides his wife; he is survived by his loving sons and daughters-in-law John and Patti (Nettis) Deegan, Robert and Nancy (Schultz) Deegan, William and Charise (Brown) Deegan, Louis and Martha (Yeagher) Deegan, Patrick and Tracy (Way) Deegan; grandchildren Jonna-Lynn, Justin, Aaron, Ian, Adam, Sean and Kelly Deegan, Justin and Javaris Brown; great-grandchildren Kayleen Deegan and Alex Cruz, Selena and Lilyana Brown; as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother William Deegan; and sister Elizabeth Fillmore.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home 491 High St., Middletown, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Sebastian Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Levy and the dedicated nurses, staff and volunteers at Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit for the wonderful care they provided. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society 825 Brook St. Rocky Hill, Ct. 06067 Attention Memorial Department in Memory of John F. Deegan.
