LaPLANTE, John Joseph John Joseph LaPlante, 76, of County Road, Wolcott, died Sunday, (May 16, 2004) at home. He was the husband of Patricia (Morrison) LaPlante. Born in Waterbury on Sept. 1, 1927 the son of the late George and Clara (Weidman) LaPlante Sr. He attended Crosby High School and was a U. S. Marine Veteran of serving in both World War II and the Korean War. Prior to his retirement 14 years ago he was employed by Bendix in Cheshire and had previously worked for the Timex Corporation in Middlebury for many years. He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church. Mr. LaPlante was a member of the Wolcott VFW Post #1979. A former member of Farmingbury Hills Country Club. He was an avid bowler and belonged to the Friday Night League at Wolcott Lanes. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Robert Lukas of Prospect, Loraine and Glenn Morrone of New Hartford, Karen and Daniel Massaro Jr. of Bristol; two grandchildren, Austin John Massaro and John Glenn Morrone, a brother, George LaPlante, sisters Joan Meccariello and Marge Nido all of Waterbury and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Lanase and a brother Hank LaPlante. The Funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Rd. to St. Pius X Church at 10 a. m. for a Mass. Burial with military honors will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Donations maybe made in his memory to VNA Homecare Hospice 27 Princeton Rd., Suite 101, Watertown, CT 06795 or to the American Cancer Society 538 Preston Ave. Meriden, CT 06450.
