John THRALL Obituary

THRALL, John (Randy)

John (Randy) Thrall, 62, loving husband of Catherine Filloramo Thrall, passed away peacefully on March 6, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Manchester on November 27, 1950; son of the late Elmer and Shirlie (Chagnon) Thrall. The youngest of four boys, Randy graduated from Manchester High School in 1969 and the University of New Haven in 1973. He was dedicated to the family school bus business as a teenager and continued his responsibilities for over 30 years. Randy was also an active member of the Connecticut Operators of School Transportation Association. Randy was passionate about antique collector cars and spent most of his free time travelling country wide to attend various shows and auctions. His hobby was best translated into his instrumental position in the organization of Manchester's "Cruisin' on Main St.", the second largest annual event in town. He was awarded Volunteer of the Year for his devoted work. Randy also participated in the Buick Club where he made many lasting friendships. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two adoring daughters, Katrina and Lily; his brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Thrall and Mason and Suzanne Thrall and his nieces and nephews, Jeff, Jen, Mason and Nichole. He also leaves his aunts and uncle, Steve and Angie Casalino, and Betty Clark and sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Filloramo, Ann Filloramo, Carmine and Fran Filloramo and nieces Francine, Suzie, Gina, and Laura as well as many beloved cousins and close childhood friend, Steve Spak. He was predeceased by his brother Bradford, Mother and Father-in-Law Carmine and Suzanne Filloramo, and brother-in-law Francis Filloramo. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cruisin' on Main St., Care of: Downtown Manchester Special Services District, 983 Main Street, Suite 10, Manchester, CT 06040.
Family and friends may call to the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, on Saturday, March 9, from 4 to 8. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 10, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

I was shocked when I read the Courant this morning and saw the article about the upcoming Cruisin on Main St. I worked with John at Manchester Motor Cars and also stayed in the same hotel as he did in Hershey for several years, I will miss his sense of humor and conversations over breakfast before heading out to fields for the Antique Car Show. Sincere sympathies to his family.

My prayers and thoughts go out to all the family memebers. I also worked at the bus company back in the 70's.

Cathy, old friends never say good-bye, we just end every visit or phone call with "see you later". And by golly we will all be together again in the heavens with him. Randy is just leading the way for the "someday" we will all follow. Once a roommate with Frank, and a dear friend to both of us, the history of friendship, conversations and laughter from the good ole days are memories that we are so fortunate to hold dear in our hearts. Our prayers are with you and the girls through this most difficult time of loss and know that we are here for you until our "someday" comes along. Big hugs to all of you,

I was very sorry to get your text about the death of John. I can't begin to imagine diffcult this time must be for you and your family. I know John was a great husband,Father and Friend to all, that this loss will leave a great hole in your life.

John was always so funny, kind, helpful and cheerful. I remember the time we went to Hershey and he bought a hairpice and walked around with it on I cherish that memory, and I hope it can bring a smile to your face even in this time of sorrow. We would meet at Shady Glen and try to solve the problems of the world and Crusin on Main car show that brought joy to his life and we will miss his input and direction
I am glad I had time with John and all the converstation we had about life in general "I WILL MISS MY BUDDY"
With Love
