Ruth Gardner Brachmann
Ruth Gardner Brachmann, 94, of Windsor Locks, devoted wife, mother, and devout Christian was taken by the Lord on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at St. Francis Hospital. Ruth was born on December 13, 1931 in Springfield, MA to a hardworking family of mixed Polish, English, and French ancestry; the daughter of the late George Leslie Gardner and Anne Smalley Gardner. She attended St Mary's Catholic School and Windsor Locks High School.
In 1949 she married the late Ira John Brachmann and began family life. She raised a son and two daughters as a stay-at-home mother. Later, she maintained careers extending over several years. She was employed at the Fuller Brush Co., W.T. Grant Co., Tel-Span National, and Ray-Tel Medical. In later years she was a home health aide with Companions and Homemakers. She retired in 2002. In 1991 she went back to school and earned her high school diploma at Windsor Locks High School.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, the late Ira John Brachmann of Windsor Locks, CT; her parents, the late George Leslie Gardner of Springfield, MA, and Anne Smalley Gardner Dumas, of Windsor Locks; her brother, Donald Gardner of Lady Lakes, FL; and her sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Gardner Hunt of Sun City West, AZ and Mrs. Marion Gardner Borowski of Windsor, CT.
Ruth is survived by her son, Paul Ira Brachmann of Enfield, her daughters, Mrs. Claire Brachmann Testoni of Windsor Locks, Mrs. Ann Brachmann Blais of Enfield; her grandsons, Brandon Blais, David Blais, and Aaron Blais all of Enfield, and Rev. Brian Blais of Oil City PA, her granddaughter, Sheri Blais Hattin of Vernon. Her great grandsons, Joel Blais, Levi Blais, Grady Blais, Creed Blais, Haven Blais, and Della Blais all of Oil City, PA and other great grandsons Preston Blais, Mason Blais, and Grant Blais of Enfield, CT, and Ira Paul Hattin, Daisy Hattin, and Eleonor Hope Hattin of Vernon, CT and son-in-law Mr. Donald H. Blais of Enfield.
Ruth was a devout Christian and had great compassion for the elderly and disabled. She was the conscience of the family. She was a communicant of River Valley Fellowship Church in East Windsor, CT.
"Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." Matthew 25:34-36.
