TUBIAK, John John Tubiak, 82, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Agnes (St. Peter) died Sunday, (January 16, 2005) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 20, 1922, in Meriden, son of the late John and Mary (Swiatek) Tubiak; he had lived in Glastonbury since 1956. John received both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education from the University of Hartford. John spent 35 plus years as an educator teaching History and Social Studies at East Hartford High School and Manchester Community College where he was highly respected by students and faculty. He was admired for his honesty, his fairness, his compassion and his keen sense of humor. John was Chairman of the Glastonbury Democratic Town Committee for six years and in 1969 was named Democratic "Man of the Year." He was instrumental in the formation of the East Hartford Federation of Teachers and served as a past president. John was well known for his contributions toward better education having also served as Legislative Chairman of the CT State Federation of Teachers and was the initiator of the first collective bargaining bill for teachers that resulted in the passage of P.A. 298 by the General Assembly. John helped to make a difference in the lives of countless people. John was a veteran of World War II having served with the 9th Bombardment Group of the 20th Air Force in the Southwest Pacific. His life was one of dedication and commitment to the betterment of his fellow men and women. John had a passion for music and was an accomplished trumpeter and drummer. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, writing stories and poetry, taking walks and spending time with his family, including Emmie, his four-legged friend. Besides his wife Agnes, he is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Lisa Tubiak of Glastonbury, Carol Cadorette and her husband Edward of Glastonbury; his sisters, Celia Wierzorek of Wallingford, Helen and her husband Peter Loin of Wallingford; his sister-in-law, Velma Tubiak of Meriden; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley and his sisters, Ann Loin, Mary Herget and Agnes Tubiak. Funeral service will be held TODAY, 9:15 a.m. from the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Dunstan Church, Glastonbury. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury.
