Joseph DiPietro Obituary
Joseph C. DiPietro, 69, of New Britain, passed away Dec. 3 from heart failure. Born on Feb.1, 1945 in Milford, MA, Joseph (Joe) served in the US Navy before raising his family in Avon, CT. Joe worked in radio for WHCN and WPOP in the 1970s, and as the charismatic owner of several popular Connecticut nightclubs in the 1980s, including Brandy's and Gatsby's. Joe had friends calling "hello" everywhere he'd go, and could always be counted on to tell a good joke. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, travel, hockey, skiing, rock concerts, the New England Patriots, and spending time at the beach. Joe's spirited, fun and "larger than life" personality was beloved by all. He will be remembered with great love and gratitude as father of Christine and Jessica DiPietro, brother of Richard and Gregory DiPietro, uncle, cousin and loyal friend to so many. Joseph will be buried with Military Honors at the Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT at 12:30pm on Monday, Dec. 8. All are welcome to attend.

When I read that you had passed away at the age of 69,it brought back so many happy memories of our friendship and all the fun and laughs we had. I'm just seeing this now with great sadness. I worked with Joe at WHCN; he had a very large personality, but he was a good guy and a straight shooter with a great heart who made me feel welcome when I came to Hartford. RIP, Joe; the WHCN crew sends its respect and condolences.

I worked for Joe back at Gatsby's and have to say he was lager than life. I can say I always smile when I think of Joe. My heart goes out to the whole family.

Our hearlfelt thoughts go out to Joe's daughter's - you were the pride of his life - and he smiled biggest when he spoke of you. We will always remember back on the years Joe spent with us with a a LOT OF LAUGHTER. He was a 1 of a kind, and we will miss his "popping" by to say hello

My sincere condolences to the Dipieto Family, most especially to Joe's beautiful daughters that were what he was most proud of on this earth. I watched them grow up over the years and that was a guarantee of a softening in his voice whenever he spoke of them. RIP, Joe.

Joe was the coolest dad for my first 20 years, and the best friend, for the last 20 years. He never minced words. He taught me how to read people and how to make real friends. My dad was truly one of a kind, in a world full of carbon copies. I love you always, Daddy.

I knew Joe a long time ago and remember how nice he was to me. He was always a gentleman with real zest for life. I am sorry I never kept in touch but he will remain in my memory. My sincere sympathy to those he left behind.
