ROSSI, Joseph T.
Joseph T. Rossi Jr., 71, of Maple Ave., Higganum beloved husband of Geraldine "Gerry" (Grabek) Rossi, died Monday (October 17, 2011) at Saint Francis Hospital. He was born in Middletown the son of the late Joseph T. Rossi Sr., and Theresa (Wonsicki) Rossi. Prior to his retirement Joe was owner of Rossi Lowenthal Lumber in Middletown. After the sale of the business he returned to work for Rossi Group with his brothers. He was a veteran of the U.S Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of many organizations including the Haddam Democratic Town Committee, Fin Fur and Feather Association, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Life, Rockfall Corp Past President, Italian American Civic Order, Belltown Antique Car Club, National Rifle Association, St. Sebastian Church, Middletown Old Burying Ground Association, East Hampton Town Democratic Committee, and Board of Directors for the Augusta Woods Condo Association. Besides his wife Joe is survived by a son, Scott J. Rossi of Middletown; a daughter, Julie Tetrault and her husband Jason of Higganum; two grandchildren, Allie and Jason Tetrault Jr.; three brothers, Ted, Peter, and Eugene Rossi. He was predeceased by a step-mother Alma M. Rossi.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 12 noon at Saint Sebastian Church. Dear Gerry and Family. We only recently learned of Joe's illness and were saddened to learn of his passing. We're leaving for Florida tomorrow and would otherwise attend the ceremony.
