Kenneth Bradley Obituary

Kenneth Arthur Bradley, 88, of Storrs died at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation on Saturday, (March 1, 2003) after strokes in 1991 and last week. He was born in Woodbury, December 28, 1914 to Arthur W. Bradley and Ruth (Knox) Bradley. Kenneth married Elizabeth Louise Sharpe on July 19, 1941. Kenneth was an associate professor of ornamental horticulture and landscape design at the University of Connecticut from 1947-1977. Many former students will remember spring forays to the Bradley home where homemade pies were treasured. Others will remember the Hort Shows in the Ratcliffe Hicks Arena every fall, for which Kenneth was one of the faculty advisers. Before his first stroke in 1991, Kenneth enjoyed many years of retirement as he mowed and gardened in Storrs and retired to Arizona in the cold months. Elizabeth passed in 1998. Kenneth is survived by his two sons, Kenneth A. Bradley, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Concord, NH; and David M. Bradley and his partner Mr. Leslie E. Rollins of Storrs; as well as a granddaughter, Jennifer Lyn Bradley and her husband Scott Clark of Boston, MA. Although there will be no memorial service, the family would like to request that memorial donations be made in Kenneth's name to the Windham Community Memorial Hospital, the Eagleville Fire Department, or the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
