Kenneth Lukasiewicz Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" Michael Lukasiewicz, 80, of Avon, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2023, with family by his side. He was born in Bristol, November 7, 1942, son of the late Frank and Germaine (Fortier) Lukasiewicz. Besides his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Robertson. Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Jameson, and his wife Emily, and their children Elijah and Nolan of Avon; his sister Janie Keddy and her husband Roy of Bristol; his brother Gary and his wife Patty Lukasiewicz also of Bristol; and his brother-in-law Kenny Robertson of Bloomfield; along with many nieces, nephews and close friends whom he loved dearly. Ken "DziaDzia" as his grandchildren called him, grew up in Bristol, and graduated from Bristol Eastern High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. Ken earned his BA in English, his Masters, and 5th year Certificate all from CCSU. He taught English and coached football and wrestling at Avon High School for over 30 years. "Coach Luke" as his students and athletes called him, was an avid sports fan, and relished in the years he coached and watched his son and grandchildren on the mat and in the fields. Ken loved to travel making regular weekend trips to NYC, Boston and Baltimore and summer trips to Brazil, California and Asia. Ken had a passion for photography and poetry, as well as a keen eye for all types of beauty. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandsons. His family will receive friends Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. A graveside Service beginning with Military Honors will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, at 9 AM directly at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. I have the fondest memories of Mr. Lukasiewicz from the time I transferred to AHS way back in the day, as a sophomore who'd just moved to CT from NJ. His honors English class was a refuge, and arguably my most memorable class at AHS. Ken (as he ultimately allowed me to call him) was a gifted teacher who pushed his students in the most positive way; my written and spoken English blossomed that year, and his firm but gentle guidance, coupled with his vast knowledge, openness, humor and encouragement, made all the difference for a shy kid who was still finding his way. I not only remember him as one my favorite teachers at AHS, but I recall how honored I was when he wrote a stellar college recommendation for me. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones; I hope you take great pride in knowing that Ken had an amazing impact on me and surely many others.

Jameson, `Luke´ was a friend of mine while going thru high school. He not only was my sophomore home room teacher but also my wrestling coach. He was always good to me and my brother and sisters. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Lukaswiewicz was my all time favorite high school teacher. My first encounter with him was for "Speech and Research." After that, I signed up for as many of his classes as possible because of his incredible teaching style, his knowledge, and the knowledge that he imparted on me. Thanks to him, I learned phenomenal vocabulary, how to speak publicly, how to research, how to analyze, and most importantly, how to write; a lost art these days. I will forever be grateful to him and his expertise, as he truly shaped who I am today. He was, without a doubt, one of a kind. May he rest in peace and may you find comfort in the coming days.
