Kevin represented the best of us. Always positive, always caring about his kids in the classroom and the teaching profession. Whenever I visited Northend and later Smith, I always visited with Kevin. He was a teacher who gave me perspective on programs we were implementing in our schools. Always honest, always forthright, always a teacher. We also talked family a lot and his triplets were the center of his life. It was an honor to know him and may the big man Rest In Peace. I am so sorry for your loss.

I was lucky enough to meet Kevin in the crazy year when Northend was being renovated and the entire school was with us at Vance. He was one of the only teachers that would give up some of his plan time to stay and chat with me and watch his students participate in my P.E. class! We had many stimulating (and probably a bit loud ! ) conversations and lots of laughs. He was a wonderful person ,teacher , co worker and friend.

December 21, 2020

Kevin, I remember you helping me out when I got my first teaching job 26 years ago. Even before that, you were friends with my brother and lifted with us down the Powerhouse back in New Britain in 81’. My brother always told me that you were the strongest guy he ever knew, but also one of the most kind and sincere as well. You left this world a better place and had a huge impact on everyone who knew you. God bless

Kevin was one of the kindest and most caring people I have ever met. I had the honor of teaching with him at both Northend and Smith. He was always excited to tell me about the adventures and accomplishments of Rachel, Derek, and Kevin. He loved you so very much and was so proud of the 3 of you. That was evident in every conversation we had! He also enjoyed telling me about a trip or a restaurant he had gone to with his wife Nancy. He loved you to the moon and back! Kevin also had a great love for his students. He would frequently treat his students who had perfect attendance or good grades to lunch. He cut out hundreds of wooden game boards and wooden circles over his 34 year teaching career and taught his students how to sand and paint a checkerboard. Those are only two examples of the many things he did everyday to let his students know that he truly cared about them. I will miss hearing about his retirement adventures with his family and his beloved dog Toby. I will miss my dear friend. Kevin was truly one of a kind in so many ways. My thoughts and prayers are with you Nancy, Rachel, Derek, and Kevin during this very difficult time.

Kevin was truly one of the most special people I have ever met. He was the assistant principal at Northend when I was principal. The students had great respect for him as he did for them. He truly loved teaching. The world needs many more like him. He will be missed.

So very sad to hear about Kevin. I worked with him for several years at Smith School. At that time his children were deciding where to go to college. He never admitted it, but it was obvious he was relieved when they decided to attend Hartford and stay close to home. You could hear the love in his voice and on his face every time he talked about his family. You were all blessed to have him as your dad and husband, as we were blessed to have him as a colleague. He will be remembered with love.

I worked at Smith School, I worked in the kitchen. Mr Bonaparte would come in every morning with a great smile on his face. We would talk a little. I remember the day when he told me he had triplets and how old they were at that time. I could see from the smile on his face he was so proud of them and the love he had for them. I am sure he will be dearly missed. RIP Mr. Bonaparte

I worked with Kevin for 8 years at Smith while I taught kindergarten. Even though my students were so young, they loved seeing Kevin in the hallways and at dismissal. One student used to call him Mr. Bone (I can hear her voice in my head while I think about it) and he would always laugh and say, “call me Mr. B!” I’m not sure she ever broke that habit. ❤
It was evident how much he truly cared for his students and our staff. We was an amazing human and I am thankful I worked with him for so long. He still messaged me on Facebook with pictures and stories of the dogs!
Thinking of his family during this time- you were the lights of his life! ❤

Mr Bonaparte was an amazing man with a big heart and a big sneeze. I was so blessed to have had him as a 5th grade teacher (Northend class of 1990 ). To this day, he’s still my favorite! He taught us not only academically but how to be good people and members of a community. My best friend and I loved staying after school to help clean out our pets’ cages and feed them while listening to “teacher talk”. I remember playing outside with my friends after school and we all anticipated his big blue jeep driving down our street on his way home from work. We couldn’t wait to hear that beeping coming up the hill. Even better if he had a red light and we got an extra minute with him! He touched countless lives and I’m so grateful to have been one of them. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Mr. Boneparte... Is how I knew him.
A great individual that always cared for everyone. This gentleman was my 5th grade Social Studies teacher at Northend Elementary School in 1992 . My class would switch back and forth with his and Mr. Tarigo's for Science class and S.S. for Mr.Boneparte's. Something about him is that he would always be loved by everyone, and that he was so big and masculine to all of us little people back then.
He was very understanding,.... So much of a friend to all of us.
I remember his blue jeep wrangler that he drove to work every morning while we were playing in the school yard before the bell rang.
He hopped out and and always said hello to everyone,... He had his brief case. Casual zip-up jacket, and white shirt with a tie.
A great man everyday!! At lunch, we had to earn our recess by not talking to loud in the Cafe'. Northend had a stop light on the front wall, next to the clock,... An actual traffic light that would turn from GREEN if we were being respectfully speaking to one another, (which was very hard for elementary children) then to YELLOW when it got a little too loud, to RED with a loud beep if we exceeded the noise limit that wasn't acceptable for recess to be granted. It taught us manners.!!
There were times that the light wasn't working.
Not a problem... They had Mr. Boneparte.!!
1 good "Hey"!! With 2 fingers up... And everyone knew what time it was.
If we wanted to play kickball, eat your peas with your pizza and tone it down.
It worked every time.
If someone didn't agree, well, they could spend their recess on the other side of the divider in the library until recess was over.
Another great memory.... Was spending those hot sunny spring towards summer days in the class room, quiet.... All of us in our books... And then he sneezes!!!
Wow!!, Did he have the sneeze of a lifetime!!
The entire school knew to bless the 5th grade teacher who congraduitively deserved it. From across the hall, to down the hall, to the gym, Mr. Tarigo, Mr.Westfried, to Mr.Scogland's gym class would all send their blessings when Kevin sneezed.
I can go on for days with memories... He was my Best Elementary School teachers. He was a very much an inspiration to many of us youngsters, especially me.
One the best in my lifetime!! He will never be forgotten. So many intricate details I can recall.
My childhood was a great one.
And truly played a very inspirational roll in it.
I Loved him.!!
Respect him!!
And believe that he gave his all to everyone whom he believed deserved it.

May you rest in peace Me.Boneaparte

And thank you.

We our so sorry for your loss. We feel so very thankful to have known Kevin. His big stature and loud voice may have scared some, but he was such a softest , sweetest individuals you could meet. I’m so happy that our older son was able to have him as a basketball and soccer coach, but most of all a positive role model to him as well. Our boys have been friends for many years, that friendship inspired sleepovers. From those sleepovers, I heard a about all the great pancakes, muffins, popcorn and other food that Kevin made for my son .
Your husband and dad created so many beautiful memories for you, those memories will keep him alive in your heart. He will be greatly missed. Love you all
