Laura Machowski Obituary

Laura B. Machowski, 86, of Fisher Street, Chicopee, MA, formerly of Birdsall Street, Winsted, died Tuesday (January 18, 2003) at Heritage Hall South convalescent home, in Agawam, MA, following a lengthy Illness. She was the wife of the late Walter F. Machowski who died in 1987. Born in Winsted, September 27, 1916, a daughter of the late Antonio and Leonilda (Nanni) Chialfi, she had lived here all of her life. She had attended local schools, worked at the Gilbert Clock Shop, and for many years before her retirement, was the head cook at the Batcheller School. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, was a Gold Star Mother, and enjoyed reading, cooking, knitting and crocheting. Her survivors include a son, Walter Machowski of Hebron; a daughter, Sue Ann Moynahan of Chicopee, MA; a sister, Norma Moore of Winsted; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Anthony; and two sisters, Julia Chialfi and Mary Verderame. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 10:30 a.m. from the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, Winsted, to St. Joseph Church for the funeral liturgy at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery In the Spring. Friends may call at the funeral home TODAY, 6-9 p.m.
