Manocher Lashgari Obituary

Manocher Lashgari, MD, 85 of Farmington, beloved husband of Elaine (Lacey) Lashgari for 55 years, passed away Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A citizen of Iran by birth and a citizen of the United States by choice, he spent most of his life in the greater Hartford area in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was born on January 18th, 1937 in Maku, Iran, the son of the late General Mohammad Ali and Fatemeh Sheikh Ali Khan Lashgari. His father was a General and Military Judge in the Iranian Imperial Army.

Manocher graduated from the University of Tehran School of Medicine in 1962. In December of that year, he came to the United States for an OBGYN internship in Brooklyn, NY and continued his education as Chief Resident at the Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. It was during his time at Saint Francis that he met his future wife, Elaine. Upon completing his training, he returned to Iran and worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Teheran. After three years in Iran, he returned to the United States and began his private practice at Mount Sinai Hospital and later at Saint Francis Hospital. He truly cared for his patients and they cared for him. He was a teacher and educator who was actively involved in teaching to residents and medical students alike. He received many staff awards from the Residents and students for his excellent teaching. He received two APGC and two CREOG awards from Saint Francis Hospital and published many articles and was involved in research projects. He was known for his gentle and polite manner, his dedication, and warm smile and was respected by his colleagues and coworkers. He loved medicine and always believed it to be a noble profession. He was an Assistant Professor at UCONN and Associate Professor at Quinnipiac College before he retired in 2017.

Besides his wife Elaine, he leaves his son Michael Lashgari, DMD and his wife Nicole Chiasson-Lashgari of Canton; his son Cyrus Lashgari, MD and his wife Lori of Annapolis, MD; his daughter Susanne Prather, MD and her husband Jeffrey of Washington, DC; his brother Malek K. Lashgari, PHD and his wife Vida of Farmington; grandchildren Ryan, Alex, Chase, Ava, and Nina; his niece Ashley and his great nephew Duke.

Dr Lashgari delivered 4 of my 5 children. I also had the honor to work with Dr Lashgari at the Mount Sinai hospital labor and delivery, as well as the maternity unit.
I recall him as a very kind and mild mannered man. He was always very caring and showed the utmost respect to his patients. He was also a very dapper dresser. Always dressed immaculately.
He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathies and prayers to his family.

When I first met the young Dr. Lashgari(Cyrus) almost 20 years ago it was when he was interviewing to join our orthopedic practice in annapolis Maryland. During the dinner "interview"cy was asked about his role models and he named one, his dad. Told of his story coming from Iran and his dedication to his family and profession. His legacy lives on in current and future generations of exceptional physicians. Sorry for your loss

Sending my love and prayers to the Lashgari family during this most difficult time.
I was a 19 year old kid putting myself through college when I started working at F.A.L. From day one I felt like I worked with family, it was truly a wonderful environment. We laughed a lot and enjoyed each other´s company- just like family does. I will always cherish the memories and laughs I shared with Dr. Lashgari, he was a true gentleman and a quite a special person.
To the Lashgari family especially Elaine, may the memories you have of your loved one help ease the pain in your heart.
With much love

I was so sad to hear of Dr. Lashgari´s passing. He was one of my (and all my colleagues) most beloved teachers and mentors during residency. He was so very kind, patient, empathetic and professional. He taught me so much clinically and was always so supportive. Truly a great man! I send my condolences to his family and those mourning him today.

My family and I were saddened tonight upon hearing of Dr. Lashgari´s death.

He was my mentor while I was an Ob/ GYN resident at Mt. Sinai Hospital. He was a skilled physician. A gifted surgeon. He made his patients feel comfortable. At my residency graduation ceremony in 1985 I told the audience that Dr. Lashgari taught me more about my chosen field than anyone.

When I learned of his death tonight I was with my four adult children and their families. Dr. Lashgari had delivered three of them. He was wonderful. I had so much trust in him! My late wife, Franny, adored him. He was patient, skilled, kind and reassuring. He luckily was so experienced with forceps that he literally saved my wife from having a C-section. In his office Franny always loved his 3 piece suits!

My second son was delivered during a blizzard. Dr. Lashgari was there before we arrived at the hospital!

He delivered our 4th child, our daughter, Courtney, on Valentine´s Day.

He delivered all of them in the middle of the night. The epitome of a devoted obstetrician.

He also taught me about the world. Not just about Iran. To this day I thank him for being able to welcome people to this country. And he helped me to forever be patriotic. I was lucky to be born a citizen of the USA. He had to leave his country to come here. Not an easy thing to do. He had to choose to be a citizen. That was not easy. He was was a brave man.

Dr. Lashgari was a family man. I only knew one of his children. He and his wife, Elaine, did a good job. I often asked them how to be a good parent . I hope Franny and I took his and Elaine´s advice.

Dr. Lashgari knew all 4 of my kids´ names. Even the one he did not deliver.

They were sad tonight. I cried.

He will always be one of my heroes.

My thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family.

So sorry for the loss of your beloved father, Dr Micheal. Our hearts and deepest sympathy go out to you and the rest of your family. As a L&D nurse my mom loved working with your dad and would say he was always the nicest man and also so handsome. May his memory live on through you and the rest of your family.

I am greatly saddened to hear of Dr. Lashgari's death. He saved my son's life 43 years ago with an emergency forceps delivery within seconds of the heart monitor showing that his heart had stopped. Were it not for his competence, our son would have been stillborn. I only knew Dr. Lashgari as our obstetrician but his competence and calmness under pressure were reassuring to me as a young new father. What a terrible loss that such a fine man should no longer be with us! I am deeply saddened.

My sincere condolences to his family. He was beyond in his practice and his way of living his life. He advised me in my teenage years and adult life. I always felt he was surrounded with Gods light. As a nurse when he came to the floor we felt so happy to see him. He made us smile and when we were sad to loose a patient he embraced us with his wise words and compassionate hugs. He gave us srenghth to carry on. I know he is resting peacefully as he embraced all that is good and kind. A man not forgotten but always in my memories.
