Margaret Rebeca (Glass) Mussen passed away Wednesday July 6, 2016 at Masonicare in Wallingford, CT. Born May 3, 1925, she was raised on a farm in Glasgow, PA. She attended high school in Mountaindale, PA and came to CT in 1944 to do her part in the WWII effort as a Drawing Tracer at Pratt & Whitney where she met her husband Ray of 70+ years. In addition to creating a loving home for her family, she was a Girl Scout leader, served as a volunteer at Cromwell Crest, and sang in the choir at the Third Congregational Church in Middletown. Known for making the best apple pie ever, she also quilted & made her own clothes, created flower & vegetable gardens, braided rugs, canned garden produce, rebuilt a family organ & a banjo clock, & helped to build their family houses in Marlborough & Cromwell. She was devoted to her family & a faithful disciple of her Lord & Savior. She was a woman of joy & deep faith who welcomed many into her home & entertained them with her good cooking, quick wit, and a joke, or prank or two. She was predeceased by her parents, Amos J. and Loda Grace (Alexander) Glass and by her two brothers, Elliot & his wife, Alcesta and Leonard and his wife, Margie, and her six sisters, Esther Isabelle & her husband Pete Mason, Dessie & her husband Dan Faretta, Essie & her husband Bill Baker, Mary Jane & her husband Ray Dillon, Ellen & her husband Lawrence Miller, and Loda Mae and her husband Chester Bean. Along with her husband Raymond, Peggy is survived by her two daughters, Christene Gaffney & her husband Fran of Cromwell, and Rose DeLorm of Granville, VT, and her two sons, Daniel, and his wife Kathleen Lynch of Colchester, and Cliff, and his wife Debbie Cadotte of Fredericksburg, VA., her grandchildren Sheila Paxton, Debbie Vare, Wendy Montgomery, Sara Mussen, Kate Werme, Dylan Henderson, Cerise Chamberlain, & Curtis Mussen, and by 11 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her "adopted" children, Pedro Lobo of Portugal, Steve Chapin of Bristol, Ryk Nelson of Lebanon, Gerry Seagrave of Middletown, John Shaw of Manassas, VA and Mark Rose of Daytona, FL. Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 11 at 10:00 am at the Third Congregational Church, 94 Miner Street, Middletown. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill.
