Marion Ruff Obituary



Marion B. Ruff, 91, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Glastonbury, died on August 11, 2016. She was born on June 29, 1925 in Rockville, CT daughter of the late George N. and Delaphine (Busher) Brigham. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years Stephen F. Ruff, her brothers Frank, Rodney, and Gordon Brigham and her brother-in-law Edward Ruff. Marion was a graduate of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1946. She worked at Hartford Hospital before having a family and later did private duty nursing. She was a stay-at-home mother to her children and the neighborhood kids and later in life cared for many children in her home. Marion was very proud of her family's history of military service. She was an avid UCONN women's basketball fan, and a devoted member of the South Congregational Church, Glastonbury, CT. Marion is survived by her children Katherine and husband Peter Cotter of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Stephen and wife Annette Ruff of Vernon, Paul Ruff and wife Linda Herschenfeld of Dresden, ME, and Donald Ruff and partner Barbara Brazill of Ithaca, NY, grandchildren Patrick and wife Megan Cotter, Sarah Cotter and partner Dennis Steck, Shelley Harvey, Aaron Ruff and wife Esther Hwang, Leah Ruff and fiance Kosta Suli, and great grandchildren Andrew and Emily Harvey. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Carol Ruff, Alma Brigham, and Shirley Brigham. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, at 11 a.m. at South Congregational Church, corner of Main and High Streets, South Glastonbury. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Congregational Church, P.O. Box 187, South Glastonbury, CT 06073 or to the Crystal Lake Community Church, 278 Sandy Beach Rd, Ellington, CT 06029
