Mary Basile Obituary

BASILE, Mary E. (Mirabello) Mary E. (Mirabello) Basile, of Hartford, died peacefully and went to heaven on Thursday (June 18, 2009). She leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Nunzio Basile. Mary dearly loved her children: Frank and wife Terri, Pamela, John and wife Lisa, Mary Jayne and husband Brad. She lived to spend time with her grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished: Scott and wife Barbara, Brian and fiancé Kristin, Matt, Jenna, Erik and Lindsay. Mary also leaves behind her sister, Rose Mirabella; her brothers, John and wife Catherine, Tony, Frank and wife Ann and her brother-in-law, Joseph Basile and wife Mary, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Phillip Mirabello and her sister, Phyllis Saccente. Mary placed her faith in Jesus Christ and dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed having a full house, especially on Sundays, surrounded by her loved ones. Mary always had a pot of meatballs for all to enjoy. She was like a "second mother" to everyone she touched. She was a humble woman who enjoyed life's blessings, large and small. Mary will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her. The funeral is Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions in Mary's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. For online expressions of sympathy to the family, please visit www.desopo.com.

Frank, Nunzio, Pam, Mary Jayne and John,

Mary held a special place in my heart and that pot of meatballs always being available brings back fond memories. Mary's passing will leave a hole for all who knew her.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

When someone you treasure becomes a memory, memories become your treasures.

That deep painful void you feel now will change eventually...into a book of cherished memories.

With Deepest condolences

To the entire family of Mary. I extend my heart felt condolences to you all. It was such a pleasure talking to her over the hedges while she enjoyed the sun in the back yard on a nice day.

Dear John. Lisa, Matt and Jenna: Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this diffucult time. We fondly remember Mary and her wonderful cooking as Lisa and I would drop off Matt and Christopher at her house for some meatballs and stuffed artichokes! May the support of all your friends bring some comfort to you. Fondly, Susan and Chris Calabro

Mary Jane and family,

Bobby and I are so sorry to hear of your Mom passing. Bobby was telling me how he loved her braciol and meatballs after playing basketball in her driveway with the guys! (I was wondering why he loved braciols so much)...and come to find out, it all started with your mom's special touch.

Stay strong and know that you and your family are in our hearts and prayers.

Love,

Cathyann, Bobby and Mike Liegl

Dearest Basile Family: I am so sorry for your loss. I can't tell you how many times I would be walking from South Catholic to catch the bus home to Wethersfield and your mom would call me in to her kitchen. We chatted about everything and she would always feed me whatever sumptuous thing she was cooking that day.

May you comfort each other with memories and stories of love and laughter. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
