Anthony Basile Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 20, 2026.
Anthony Nicholas Basile passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, and most recently residing in Blackwood, NJ.

Adored companion of Ms. Pauline Neumersky for 26 years. Beloved father of Steven Basile (spouse Jill Basile), Andrea Louisa Basile, and Cristina Honer (née Basile) (spouse Harry Honer). Beloved grandfather of Madison Lineberger (née Honer) (spouse Daniel Lineberger), Nicholas Honer, Olivia Basile, Aidan Honer, and Connor Basile. Beloved great-grandfather of Jack Lineberger.

He was blessed to share his life with Pauline's family, including her son Steven Neumersky (spouse Natalie) and son Christian.

Anthony was born on April 1, 1945, to Joseph and Carmela (née Matrone) Basile. He grew up in South Philadelphia and graduated from Archbishop Neumann High School in 1963. Immediately after graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and honorably discharged.

Anthony later married and settled in Northeast Philadelphia, where he worked as a glass salesman and raised his three children. In 1988, Anthony underwent a heart transplant, defying the odds and going on to live a full and meaningful life-facing every challenge with strength and determination.

Tony was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed shooting hoops in his younger years. A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, he attended many Flyers and Phillies games with his children and was especially grateful to witness the Eagles winning the Super Bowl. He loved spending time with family and friends and found great joy in laughter with his love for comedy, often sharing good jokes with those around him and equally passionate about music, particularly Electric Light Orchestra, The Bee Gees and ABBA.

Interment is private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations and contributions can be made in Anthony's memory to American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 www.heart.org
