Patrick Murray Obituary

Patrick J. Murray, 56, of Haddam Neck, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 3, 2016. He was born on February 10, 1960 in Bristol and was the son of the late Francis J. and Margaret (Malley) Murray. Patrick was a graduate of WCSU and was the nursing manager of the Diabetes LifeCare Unit at Hartford Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Sherman of Haddam Neck; his stepdaughter Christine and her husband Brian Martin of OH and their children Dominic, Joshua and Brayden; his stepson Michael and his wife Sabrina Cormier of Long Island and their children Mia and Michael; his brother Paul and his wife Susan Murray of San Diego, CA; his sister Theresa and her husband Ted Johnson of Farmington and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his sister Agnes "Annie" O'Shea. Patrick was a wonderful, caring and very simple kind of man. He was always giving and helping others. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with family and friends. In his spare time, he spent many hours outdoors. He loved nature and all that went with it. Patrick made many memories hiking with the grandkids; sharing his knowledge and interests with them. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Patrick could light up a room with his presence. He had a manner about him that was larger than life. He will be forever loved and missed. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol/Forestville CT from 3:30PM until 7:30PM followed by a funeral service at 7:30PM. Dear family of Patrick,I know you don't know me, my name is Eric Pinsonneault I am a patient at diabetic lifecare. I met Patrick a few years ago and he left a lasting impression on mine and my wife's life. He truly was a kind and caring individual who would go out of his way to help anyone. He had asked me many times to write or speak about diabetes and through that time I began to get to know Patrick and I can tell you his memory will live on in our heart. My wife and I send our deepest sympathies to his entire family and friends and are terribly sorry for not making the service since we just found out. Our thoughts and prayers with all of you Sincerely,Eric Pinsonneault

To my friend and colleague who lit up any situation with his bright smile and kind demeanor. Chums from the ICU in the early days to his tenure at the top of his nursing passion. We will all miss you. God bless you and your family.

My sincere condolences to the family. I've been blessed to have the privilege to work with Patrick and will miss him. He naturally lived the values of Hartford Hospital, genuinely interested in doing what was best for the patients, his staff, volunteers and co-workers. Patrick's positive attitude, smile, encouraging words, support, praise and desire to lift others made a difference to countless people. He was one of a kind and won't be forgotten.
