Paul R. Farrell

Paul R. Farrell, 71 passed away peacefully with family at his side on February 26, 2021 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Paul was born in Manchester NH to Michael F. and Sally Farrell. He grew up in Springfield and was a long-time resident of Westfield, MA. He received his Associates Degree from Springfield Technical Community College. He wore many hats during his career, always doing what was necessary to make certain he provided for his family. Paul was fond of saying "Life is tough, but so am I- I hope I live until I die". Which is exactly how he lived. He retired from Eastern Etching Manufacturing as a Materials Manager in 2017. His many interests help define Paul. He was a member of the Westfield Sportsman's Club, a motorcyclist, an ATVer, a bicyclist, a kayaker, a model airplane builder and pilot, a drone pilot, an amateur astronomer. a student of microbiology analyzing local environmental samples with a microscope and an accomplished chess player who most enjoyed daily matches with his son. Of all his endeavors, Paul greatest passion was scuba diving which he would pursue every weekend at Cape Ann and occasionally on vacations in the Caribbean. Paul is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, JoAnne, his loving son and daughter Paul of Manchester NH, and Melanie C. Messier and her husband Mark of Glastonbury, CT, his cherished grandchildren Emily and Meghan Messier, a sister Janet Hendrickx and her husband Phil, a sister Ann DiFilippo and her husband Adam both of Newmarket NH, a brother Thomas and his wife Peggy of Knoxville TN, a sister-in-law, Betty Farrell also of Knoxville, his brothers-in-law Michael Bettini of Ansonia CT, Ron and Nancy Bettini of Cordova, MD, many nieces and nephews, and longtime friends Steve Ausevich, Anna Naimen, Bob Sterner, and Peggy Garvey. He was recently predeceased by his brother Michael. Rest in Peace Paul. We will truly miss you and carry wonderful memories of you in our hearts. Paul's memorial service will be held at Frition-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street Westfield MA 01085 on Thursday, March 4th from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM.
