GRIFFITHS, Peter D. Peter D. Griffiths, 81, beloved husband of Meagan J. (Goodyear) Griffiths, of South Windsor, passed away Tuesday (January 30, 2007) peacefully at home after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in England on April 9, 1925, son of the late Matthew H. and Elizabeth M. Griffiths, he had lived in South Windsor for the last 43 years. Before retiring he was a senior project engineer for Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks and served during World War II in the British Army. He played semi-pro rugby in Toronto, Canada and was a master bridge player and past member of the Hartford Bridge Club. Peter was an avid golfer and was a member of the Manchester Country Club. For many years he had a passion for sailing, owning his own sailboat. In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Peter H. Griffiths and his wife, Bonnie of Tolland; a daughter, Sarah L. Richards and her husband, Andrew of Stafford; a sister, Barbara Howard in England; five grandchildren, Peter H. Griffiths, Jr., William and Derek Griffiths and Hayley and Heidi Richards and other family members in England and Canada. Private Funeral and burial arrangements will be held for the family.
