The staff and residents at Vernon Manor want to share our condolences to Phyllis's family and friends. Phyllis was a key-member of our family here and we will miss her greatly. She has a beautiful smile that lit up every room she came in to. A devoted friend to all at Vernon Manor. Always worried about others and how her "girls down the hall" were feeling, instead of thinking of herself, even in her final days. I enjoyed talking with Phyllis daily. She loved telling me fond stories about her family and the joy they gave her. A devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
At Vernon Manor, Phyllis was an avid Bingo player and one of the best players at the game. She won often and instead of keeping her prize, would give it away to her friends. Always thinking and doing for others. I loved that she came to every activity on the calendar. As the Director of Recreation, she always supported me and gave me confidence to try new things. She loved the classic movies and songs, especially church anthems and choir songs. She was committed to her faith throughout her life.
We will truly miss Phyllis and her smile. I'll especially miss our talks about life, family and our friendship. Her friends here were more like family to her. We truly are missing a member of our family and it's just not the same without her. But, we know she's at peace and reunited with her husband and parents.
