CIANCI, Richard M. Sr. Richard M. Cianci Sr. 54, of 540 Berlin St., Southington, died at home unexpectedly on Saturday (March 26, 2005). Born on Jan. 2, 1951 the son of Nicholas Cianci Sr. and the late Rita (Cayer) Cianci. He graduated from New Britain High School and had attended Bentley College. Mr. Cianci retired 2 years ago after serving for 22 years with the State of Connecticut , he served as the Commissioner of the Department of Housing he had also served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Public Works. Prior to his state positions he was a officer of the Cianci Construction Co. in Southington. He was a coach for the Northern Little League for 10 years, and a member of the Southington Elks Club for 30 years. Mr. Cianci was a Longtime member of the Republican State Central Committee and former member of the Republican Town Committee. He is survived by his father Nicholas Cianci Sr. and his wife Maud of Vero Beach, FL; his fiancee Lucy Cocozza; a son Richard M. Cianci Jr. and his wife Christy; a daughter Christina G. Cianci and her fiance Christopher Anderson all of Southington; two brothers Kenneth Cianci and his wife Jackie of Cheshire, Nicholas Cianci Jr. and his wife Norma of Meriden; two sisters, Regina Bogdan and her husband Roger of Farmington, and Harriett Cianci of New Britain; his aunt Mary Baxley, a lifelong friend Peter Slater; his former wife Gail Cianci-Hagman; a nephew and godson Adam Anderson and several nieces and nephews and his loving dog Nippy. He was a loving father devoted family, and loyal friend who will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by a brother David Cianci A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at St Mary's Cemetery in New Britain. Calling hours will be TODAY from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flower donations may be made in his memory to American Red Cross, 45 Russell St. New Britain CT. 06052
