Shellee Horner Chalker Beach

I have fond memories of Diane and Bob walking together at Chalker Beach. There was always time for a friendly chat and an update on all the kids.
Bob had a wonderful smile!
You are all in my thoughts

I am extending my sincere sympathies to the Paterno family. I played on John Paterno's(Robert's dad) basketball team from 1959-62. I graduated from college and came back in 1967 to work with John and ended up when he retired replacing him as Basketball coach and Athletic Director. I met Robert on a few occasions, but I felt a level of sadness for the Paterno family and needed to share a part of my connection. Be well

Cousin Bob and I shared a great love for the New York Yankees and Chalker Beach in Old Saybrook, Ct. The DiNapoli and Paterno families spent our early years all growning up on Prospect Avenue in West Hartford where we spent many happy hours playing in the yard prior to the DiNapoli's selling the homestead to Texaco. Carol DiNapoli and I would climb up in the large cherry tree in the yard and shake the branches while our brothers Bobby and Jimmy along with cousin Bobby would stand below collecting all of the cherries that fell off! We all frocklicked together on the beach at Chalker Beach and cheered Bob's father Coach Uncle Johnny Paterno on at his Bloomfield High School basketball games! Later on we all had families and my son Zachary and I had the priviledge of spending holidays with Bob, Dianne and their daughter Melissa and Bill Bray's family in Willington. It was fun to see Bob during those holidays and I will miss our get togethers where we shared family stories known only to us. Now it is Bob's family, Carol DiNapoli MItchell's family and my family who are left to carry on the traditions of these strong families the Paternos and the DiNapolis that provided wonderful memories for those of us left. We will miss cousin Bob Paterno but find solace knowing that there are many who will be happy to be reunited with him in heaven.
WIth deepest sympathy,
Linda DiNapoli and son Zachary Singer
