He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Priscilla (Thomashefske) Zawasky, his two daughters, Donna Encarnacion and her husband George of Windsor Locks and Susan Tetta of Carefree, AZ, his three sons, Robert Jr., and his wife Anna of Windsor, Thomas and his wife Giselle of Windsor Locks, Christopher and his wife Irene of Encinitas, CA. Also, his grandchildren, Eric and Karen Encarnacion, Katrina, Robby, Connor and Sofia Zawasky. He leaves a sister, Diane Zawasky-Ortiz of Sevierville, TN. Besides his parents, William and Hilda (Peidl) Zawasky, he was predeceased by brothers William and Daniel. Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up on Long Island and graduated from Hofstra University where he met Priscilla, the love of his life. After marriage they lived in Atsugi, Japan; Newport, RI; and Windsor Locks, settling in Windsor for the last 45 years to raise their family. Bob completed his 20 year Navy career as a Cmdr. and retired from Allstate Insurance after 35 years as a Senior Account Agent. His love of the game of golf brought him lifelong friendships. Though he traveled the world to play the most challenging courses, his home course of Suffield Country Club, where he was Past President and honorary member, would remain his favorite.
His family invites friends to join them in a Mass of Christian Burial at Bob's home parish, St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Ave., in the Poquonock section of Windsor, August 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Suffield Country Club, 341 North Main St., Suffield after the internment. Bob's family would like to thank the staff of Windsor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their care and compassion during these final months. A very special thank you to his personal caregiver, Ankapong (Ed) Aboagye. Memorial donations in Bob's name may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10305 or to St. Joseph Church, PO Box 253, Poquonock, CT 06064. To each member of the Zawasky family:
As a short time has passed since you lay Mr. Z. to rest, I just wanted to say how beautiful the service was. As sad as it was to see you all for this reason, I am so thankful that I was there to witness how you all honored his life. It's apparent how important he was to each of you. You have a wonderful family and I'm sure he would be proud! God Bless!
Much love

So many wonderful memories. Know God is with you always; especially in times of sorrow. And know your beloved father and husband, Mr.Z., is at peace. May the love you all share, God's love, bring you together and bring you through this difficult time to a place of peace. Keep the faith. May your hearts be filled with peace and love. Dear Donna and Family, You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you find comfort in this poem:
When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little - but not too long
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go.
For this journey that we all must take
and each must go alone,
It's all a part of the Master's plan
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
go to the friends we know,
and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me- But let me go....

Dear Mrs. Zawasky & family:
I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Zawasky. He was always such a nice man and a great friend to my father. I am sure they have already finished a round of golf and are sitting at the 19th hole.

Priscilla & Family,
What can I say except I'm saddened by the loss of Bob. He is in a better place and I'm sure he's found the perfect golf course. Maybe he'll find Jim and have a round of golf. You are in my thoughts during this time may God be with you and help you stay strong.
