Robert Barnett Zile

1927 - 2014

Robert B. Zile, 87, of Avon, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, August 19 2014, at home. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Bisson) Zile for 46 yrs, and the late Elizabeth (Lee) Zile for 10 yrs. He was born in Chateauguay, NY on April 9, 1927, the son of the late Rueben Robert Zile and the late Anstella (Chabot) Zile. Robert joined the United States Navy in May 1945, and served a tour of duty during WWII aboard the USS Hyades (AF 28). After his discharge from the Navy, he returned to school and attained a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont in 1951, and an MBA from the University of Connecticut in 1960. He worked at Fafnir Ball Bearing Corporation, in New Britain for 35 years as a Director of Quality Assurance, before retiring in 1987. Robert is survived by his children and their spouses, Barbara DelGiudice (Bill) of Manchester, Dr. Michael Zile MD (Joan) of Charleston SC, Kevin Zile (Robyn) of West Dennis, MA, and Robert Zile (Jill) of Saunderstown, RI. He was predeceased by his son Thomas Zile (Jeanne) of Tewksbury, MA. He had 9 grandchildren: Jennifer, Jonathan, Brian, Craig, Amy, Megan, Jamie, Melanie and Billy; 3 great grandchildren: Patrick, Emmitt, and Rosalie, and two brothers, Roderick Zile and the late Norman Zile. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, August 22, 2014 at 2PM directly at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road, West Simsbury. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. There are no calling hours.
