Ronald Jankowski Obituary

Ronald Lewis Jankowski, 69, of Windsor, beloved husband for 49 years of Betty (Tomolonis) Jankowski, died on Saturday, August 8, 2015, surrounded by his family at his home. Born in New Britain on October 16, 1945, son of the late Lewis and Mary (Pienkos) Jankowski, he was raised in Bristol and was a graduate of Bristol Eastern High School, Class of 1963. After high school, Ron continued his education taking classes in mechanical engineering and drafting. He started his career at Ensign-Bickford in Simsbury and later used his knowledge and experience as an industrial sales representative for 40 years retiring from Sprague Air Control. During retirement, Ron worked with his son-in-law Peter at his machine shop in South Windsor, Hermann Schmidt Company. Ron believed that there wasn't anything that you couldn't do if you put your mind to it. A true "Jack of All Trades", he was a crafted woodworker, boat builder, welder, painter, and automobile restorer. He took great pride in building wood boats from scratch and in expertly restoring antique cars including his 1963 Jaguar E-Type. Besides his wife Betty, he leaves three children, Ron Jankowski, Jr. and his wife Barbara Guerra-Jankowski of Danville, CA, Kari Schmidt and her husband Peter of Bolton, and Steven Jankowski of Windsor; his beloved granddaughters, Briana and Kylie Schmidt; his sister, Dolores Menard and her husband Greg of Windsor; two brothers-in-law, Robert Tomolonis and his wife Dolores of South Windsor and Robert Buyak of East Haddam; and many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 12, 5-8 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, August 13, 10 a.m., at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202. For online condolences please visit, www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
